WP1 - Literature review

The objectives for WP1 are to conduct a literature review of international experiences to identify barriers, lessons learned and challenges in the implementation of different NBS to deal with water management in the peri-urban. Leading experts working with NBS will be interviewed.

Specific objectives

  • Provide an agreed definition on NBS concept. How the concept NBS has been treated in the literature and its evolution along the last decade and its relationship with other concepts ecosystem services, adaptation, green infrastructure, risks management, participation, water management.
  • Review of applications/practices of NBS and water management in the context of urban and peri-urban environments.
  • Identify the main challenges and risks addressed to close the water gap through NBS.
  • Review the approaches and methodologies used in the implementation (Research/planning/design/construction/monitoring). Identify disciplines involved, required skills, capacities to implement NBS and features of inter and transdisciplinary.
  • Recognise barriers and lessons learned to facilitate NBS implementation to deal with water management in the peri-urban.
