Pillar 3: Mitigating, perceiving, and communicating risk

Pillar 3 integrates technical and sociological approaches to reduce disaster risk and communicate risk to exposed populations and responders.

Topics include

  • T3.1 - hazard mitigation using engineered structures and nature-based solutions
  • T3.2 - reducing exposure to natural hazards with early warning systems
  • T3.3 - risk awareness through education and communication – focusing on addressing the challenges of informing populations and first responders in exposed areas.

The education package and activities in Pillar 3 will be hosted by CEMADEN and UFRJ in Brazil.
