Theoretical approach and methodology

There is a growing recognition that industry by‐products can help to provide viable, environmentally friendly and cost‐effective solutions for construction projects. However, the realisation of utilising industry by‐products in construction engineering practice often depends on governance structures and stakeholders enabling beneficial conditions.

This work package will shed light on enablers essential for realising the utilisation of industry by‐products in construction and exchange knowledge to the soil stabilisation industry. The overall ambition within WP5 is to catalyse innovation through mapping enabling factors that played a positive role in utilising industry by‐products in construction projects. WP5 will identify case studies that showed a successful realisation of building and construction projects using industry by‐products.

These case studies will allow data collection on governance structures and essential stakeholders involved and extract their contribution to enable the use of industry by‐products. WP5 will then share best practice related to using industry by‐products to provide guidance for soil stabilisation, which currently lacks these success stories. WP5 will specifically draw on the expertise and network of GOAL's industry partners.
